Sharing Schnoodle Stories

Shelby's Story

We got Schnoods when he was only 8 weeks old. He was a rowdy little puppy even at that age. He loved to untie your shoelaces and pull on your socks. One time he was up on the couch. He decided to walk onto the end table and sit down. When he went to sit, there was nothing there but air. He fell off backwards right onto the floor. My mom and I laughed so hard until we were crying. It was such a funny sight to see.

Mom's Story

I came home from work one Friday and two of our three dogs were there to greet me. Cally, our Cockapoo, was no where to be found. I hunted outside, looked in the house - nothing. I started calling her. No sounds at all. I walked around to the back of our house. Schnoods was ahead of me and walked down the to end of the house where there is a gated area approximately 6' wide and 15' long. The gate doesn't latch because it is warped. Schnoods looked at the gate, looked up at me and looked back at the gate. When I walked over there, there was Cally on the other side of the gate trying to get out. Schnoods led me right over to her, thus making him a hero.

Cally's Story

Hi. I'm Cally. I am a 3-year-old Cockapoo. I came to live with Schnoods on Labor Day of 2000. Mommy and Daddy adopted me from the Lange Foundation, a pet adoption facility in West Los Angeles, California. Schnoods did not like me very much when I first joined the family. In the car on the way home, I got to sit on Mommy's lap, which is where Schnoods usually sits. He was so jealous, he laid on the back seat of the car all the way home, with his head between his paws and pouted. He wouldn't even look at Mommy when she called his name. After we got home, we went in the bedroom. Schnoods jumped up on the bed and would not let me up there. Whenever I tried to jump up there, he would actually body-block me and I would fall back on the floor. Mommy finally scolded him and I got to go up on the bed. Now, we are best buddies. We run and play and wrestle around all the time. I even pull on his lip and make him squeal. But I tell you, it took awhile to soften him up. Although I no longer live with Schnoods and his family, and have been adopted by another family, I will always remember the good times and fun I had there.

Amour's Story

I guess you can tell by the title, I'm Amour. I am a Black Lab. I lived all alone with Daddy until Schnoods decided to make his entrance. And he did with a bang, on July 4th, 1998. Shelby wanted a puppy so we took her to a pet store to look at some. She fell in love with Schnoods. The first day we brought him home, I wasn't sure of this little runt. He seemed to just take over. He started eating and drinking out of my bowls like he owned them. Wrong! Every time he got close, I would step in his way. He wasn't going to eat my food. Finally I had to growl at him a few times. He just didn't get the hint. But I found out that that wasn't exactly the best thing to do. Daddy really scolded me for being mean to him. I had to sit back and watch that little brat eat my food and drink my water, acting like he was king of the world. But, eventually we got to be best buds. He sure knows how to puppy wrestle. We have a great time. I wouldn't give him up for anything.

Blizzard's Story

I came to live with Schnoods on August 25, 2001, when I was only 12 weeks old. Mommy and Daddy bought me from a pet store. I am a white, Mini-Schnauzer. I guess I am just as rowdy and rambunctious as Schnoods was at my age, that's why my people chose me. Believe it or not, Schnoods has been very nice to me since I came to live with him and Amour. He has even let me play with his racquetball, which is almost unheard of. I try to keep it away from him as long as I can but since I am so little, it usually slips out of my mouth when I am running and then he gets it. He has taught me so much since I've been here. Some good, some not so good. I learned the dog door real fast. Schnoods kept going in and out and I kept watching him. After getting bopped in the nose a few times, I finally figured it out. Schnoods and I play tug-o-war all the time with a rope/bone that Mommy and Daddy bought for us. He'll growl at me when I try to pull it out of his mouth. Then he'll pull back, but not hard. I want to be just like him when I grow up.

Plato's Story

Hi everyone. I'm Plato and Blizzard is my Daddy. I guess that makes Schnooder my uncle. I only stayed at Uncle Schnooder's place for a week, but boy, was that a fun week. I was with my Mommy and other brother and sister, Skirball and Meilani until I was 8 weeks old. Then I went to Uncle Schnooder's house until my new family came and picked me up. That week was sure fun. I figured out the dog door all by myself. I just had to keep up with Daddy, Uncle Schnooder and Auntie Amour and I figured that if they could go through it, so could I. I had a few problems at first because I was so small, but I was determined to do it. Uncle Schnooder didn't like me very well at first and was kind of jealous of me. Whenever Grandma and Grandpa gave me some attention, he would lay on the floor with his head between his paws and pout. He wouldn't even go by Grandma when she called him. Whenever I went over by him and wanted to play, he would groan at me. But, believe it or not, he let me play with his ball, his most prized possession. He would even roll it right to me. That made me feel so good. I know he doesn't do that to many other dogs. Daddy and I had the most fun. He would roll on his back and let me climb all over him. Then he'd run and I would chase him all over. We had so much fun together. Now I am with a new family that loves me very much. I have a big yard to run in and another dog to play with. And they also have a dog door and I know how to use it already. Aren't I a smart little guy? I hope Daddy, Uncle Schnooder and Auntie Amour will always remember me, even though I was only with them for a week. It is a week I will never forget.
